ABOUT
THE HERD:
Calves were first registered in 1966. Foundation females were acquired
from dispersal sales and elite herds from around Australia. Many 'record'
and 'top prices' have been paid for both females and sires over the
years. Around 150 females are joined annually and they have been recorded
on Breedplan since its inception.
Currently
all females are above the breed average for performance and the main
sires are multiple Trait Leaders in the breed. All yearling stocks are
scanned for eye muscle area, fat depth and marbling. Broughton Park
has produced more Trait Leading sires in Shorthorn Group Breedplan than
any other herd in Australia.
It has
also been the states most successful stud at the Royal Adelaide Show
and at the Naracoorte Shorthorn Show & Sale over the past decade.
LOCATION:
In South Australia's Mid North, 7 km south/east of Spalding on the Burra
road - Highway 64.

Beef Field Days in early February. There are usually a limited number

East during the first week of March. Bulls are also offered at the National
